11 Laptops Stolen from CoderDojoTC

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — On July 31, we discovered 11 laptops missing:

  • 10 Apple Macbook Pro, 15", 2009–2011
  • 1 Apple Macbook Air, 13"

We need your help to either find or replace these laptops. Some of our code groups require more memory and CPU than our older laptops have. These laptops were used at every single event in the past year or more. Every two weeks, they helped a student learn to code.

How You Can Help

  1. Keep your eyes out for laptops that match our description; contact us if you see them!
  2. Consider donating laptops you own, provided they:
    • Are working (can browse the Web, run programs)
    • Have at least 4 GB of RAM
    • Have a power supply
    • Are 2009 or newer
    • Mac, Windows, and Linux are all fine
  3. Ask your workplace what they do with their old laptops and mention our program.

Donations to our parent nonprofit, Code Savvy, both financial and in-kind are tax deductible.

Identifying Characteristics

  • The laptops have dark scuff marks around the top lid & bottom from transport.
  • There are CoderDojo Twin Cities stickers covering the Apple logos on the laptop lids.
  • We have serial numbers on file for almost all of the laptops.
  • There is generally a single user account, admin or CoderDojo.
  • The laptops are not Retina, and all but one or two have hard disks, not SSDs.
